RedR Talk: Practical wellbeing strategies for humanitarians

Tuesday 20 October • 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM GMT+1

Overview

Humanitarian work places exceptional demands on staff, volunteers and leaders. Long hours, exposure to crisis, growing operational pressures and limited opportunities for recovery can contribute to stress, burnout and declining wellbeing, affecting both individuals and organisations.

In this joint webinar, RedR and The Pandora Project will explore practical, trauma-informed approaches to strengthening wellbeing and resilience across the humanitarian sector. Combining RedR’s experience of supporting humanitarian organisations worldwide with The Pandora Project’s specialist expertise in wellbeing, safeguarding and resilience, the session will examine how organisations can create healthier working environments while helping individuals sustain their own wellbeing.

The webinar will introduce The Pandora Project’s ‘House’ model, which recognises that sustainable wellbeing depends on both organisational foundations and individual practices. Participants will explore topics including burnout prevention, stress management, psychological safety, compassionate leadership, safeguarding, peer support and resilience-building.
Attendees will leave with practical tools and ideas that can be applied immediately, whether they are seeking to strengthen team culture, support volunteers and staff, improve safeguarding outcomes or build healthier personal habits for long-term effectiveness in humanitarian work.

This webinar is designed for humanitarian and development professionals who want to strengthen wellbeing, resilience and sustainable performance within their organisations and their own practice.

It will be particularly relevant for:

  • Programme, operations and field managers supporting teams working in demanding or crisis-affected environments.
