There are now many standards which relate to best practice for humanitarian organisations and how to most effectively deliver aid following a disaster. Aid workers and organisations need tobe aware of these standards, such as Sphere Minimum Standards in Disaster Response. Sphere Guidelines and other documents can be found here.

    The Red Cross Code of Conduct

    The Code of Conduct for The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and NGOs in Disaster Relief was developed and agreed upon by eight of the largest disaster response agencies in the world in 1994. It is being used by the International Federation to monitor its own standards of relief delivery and to encourage other agencies to set similar standards.
