Learn how to undertake effective repairs to lightly damaged earthquake-affected buildings.
This module provides participants with an understanding on the types of light damage that can occur in building during an earthquake and allows an opportunity to identify the types of light repairs that are needed to bring buildings up to liveable conditions and standards. Through this module participants will learn the necessary skills and tools to carry out light repair work on earthquake buildings, including developing Bill of Quantities (BoQ) and Scope of Work (SoW). The module is contextualised for the 2023 Türkiye-Syria earthquake response.
The module is a live session that will take place on Zoom. The facilitated module uses participatory methods and it is expected that learners will participate in discussions and activities in order to deepen their understanding of the concepts that are discussed. Participants will be offered opportunities to share relevant personal experiences and reflections to benefit their own and others' learning.
*Note that the module is short and is intended to provide an introduction to the topic. The key messages document that will be shared at the end of the session provides a summary of all of the key points as well as further learning that they can undertake after the module to deepen their understanding of the concepts that are introduced.

Module Objectives
By the end of the session you will be able to:
- Provide participants with an understanding of types of light damage that can occur in buildings during an earthquake.
- Enable participants to identify the types of repairs required to bring earthquake lightly affected buildings up to liveable conditions and standards.
- Equip participants with the necessary skills and tools to carry out light repair work on earthquake-affected buildings, including developing BoQs and SoWs.
Course Structure
The module comprises a live facilitated session of 120 - 150 minutes’ duration.

The course is designed for engineers and technical responders with some understanding of earthquake related damage.

The live online sessions are hosted on Zoom. We recommend joining via the Zoom app. Participants may join the training via a browser, although the browser offers limited access to some of the interactive features of the training. Participants will be expected to have a stable internet connection and to actively participate in all facilitated sessions.
