From our regional office in Nairobi, Kenya, RedR UK is working to enable humanitarian aid workers, government employees and community members to respond to emergencies, mitigate against disasters, and save and improve lives.

The RedR UK Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Office team has been operating from Nairobi since 2011, providing capacity-building and technical expertise for humanitarian actors in Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Chad, Madagascar, Somalia, Ethiopia, the Central African Republic (CAR), Rwanda, Senegal, and South Sudan.

Our programme in the region is in response to the need for local and relevant capacity-building expertise in a context of both acute and prolonged humanitarian crises. We offer both open courses and tailor-made solutions to cater to your particular needs.

During 2015:

  • We delivered 54 courses across the region (Kenya, DRC, Somalia, South Sudan, Rwanda)
  • We trained 929 humanitarian aid workers, 90% of whom were local staff
  • 87% of participants rated their improvement in knowledge and skills from RedR training as 'excellent' or 'good'

Since 2011 we have developed a regional pool of almost 40 highly experienced, professional humanitarian experts and trainers, who are able to provide humanitarian capacity-building and technical expertise in Somali, Kiswahili, French and English.
