The situation in Pakistan
Unprecedented flooding and devastating earthquakes regularly wreak havoc on Pakistan, one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world. These disasters, combined with economic shocks and political instability have led to millions of displaced and at-risk people all across Pakistan.
To add to the difficulties facing the country, the security situation has become increasingly volatile, with recent bombings and direct attacks from armed militants on the humanitarian community. This instability is one of the greatest challenges to relief efforts.
Our Pakistan office is based in Islamabad in Pakistan.
Our programme
Since early 2010 we’ve been providing training to scores of aid workers, humanitarian organisations and government agencies. With access to affected populations difficult for International NGOs, it falls to a growing number of local NGOs to deliver aid to ensure immediate needs are met, including shelter, water and sanitation. Our work is essential in ensuring that local aid workers are equipped with the necessary skills to deal with current emergencies, and to prepare for future disasters.
Our achievements in 2012

Delivered 45 courses covering 12 topics.

Trained 1012 staff from both international and national agencies.

Offered trainings in 5 locations: Islamabad, Hyderabad, Karachi, Muzzafarabad, Peshawar.

89% of trainees were national staff.

89% of participants rated the course ‘excellent or very good’ on improvement of skills and knowledge.
Our courses
