People are the key in any humanitarian response. Managing people can be difficult at the best of times, but during the chaos and stress of a complex humanitarian emergency, the ability to manage people is crucial for the success of any programme.
This 2½ day competency-based course will introduce participants to the fundamentals of effective people management. Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate several key skills for managing their teams with greater confidence and success.

The course is directed at humanitarian personnel responsible for managing others. It may also applicable to other managers in the development or charity sectors. Participants are likely to be fairly new to their managerial role or have experience but without any formal training. All participants are seeking an opportunity to explore management theory and access new tools and techniques to fulfil their management role successfully
This course aims to improve the management of people in humanitarian assistance programmes by providing participants with the opportunity to question, develop, share and reflect through competency based model of learning and assessment.

Please note that there is a discounted rate for participants who enrol in both the Managing People and Managing Projects courses. Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from the venue, and accommodation if required.

Please note that the Managing Projects in Emergencies is a 2 ½ day course that immediately precedes this course so the courses can be taken together in 5 consecutive days.
Registration will take place at 14.00 hrs on Wednesday and training will begin straight after. On Thursday and Friday training will start at 09.30 hrs and will finish by 18.00 hrs.
