This training on community based project designing and managing, designed for a wide range of audiences, including mobilisers, community leaders, community development professionals, extension workers, trainers and facilitators of community based reconstruction and development, and programme development managers of the organisations that focus on the community based disaster risk management, post conflict or post disaster reconstruction; resettlement and development activities. Participants are ideally those who work directly with the communities, train others on community development or manage community based programmes. This training course aims to enhance the understanding of designing and managing community based development. The emphasis is placed on the essential features in community based projects and methods of designing the community projects.
This 4 days course prepares the learners to help community members in creating their shared vision and mission, analysing challenges; developing strategic objectives and designing practical action plans that are needed to realize their vision. Once the community has a vision and strategy, they must be supported with appropriate projects and activities for realising that vision which will help the community to do so.
Course content:
By the end of the course the participants will be able to:
Assist community members in creating a shared vision and mission, examine the challenges, issues and problems, developing strategies and action plans
Facilitate community based strategic planning process and prepare annual action plans
Assist community members to identify cost effective, affordable, sustainable and appropriate projects to achieve the community's shared vision and strategy
Facilitate designing community based development projects including budgeting
Assist community members to develop proposals for appropriate community based projects
Band A - LKR 18,000 Staff members of local or nations NGOs, local government officials, CBOs and other Sri Lanka charity organizations Band B - LKR 30,000 Staff members of international NGOs, charity organizations with headquarters outside Sri Lanka, Red Cross societies (PNS), UN Humanitarian agencies Group offer: for three INGO applications, the organisation will receive one free place for its local partner organisation. For five applications from a local organisation, one free place is offered
