RedR member Paul Jawor in Myanmar 2008, Paul delivers talks about RedR and his work as a relief worker © Paul Jawor
Each year RedR takes part in a wide range of events, such as talks, careers fairs and seminars. In 2009 alone, RedR members or staff delivered talks or took part in 39 events all over the UK.
RedR speakers typically talk about RedR, the organisation and its work in emergencies, as well as their professional experiences of relief work. We can also attempt to find speakers within specialist areas, such as structural engineering and health.
RedR staff are experts in areas such as security training, humanitarian best practice, humanitarian coordination, water, sanitation and hygiene in emergencies, and in disaster relief.
In our extensive register of members, we can draw upon expertise in all areas of humanitarian work. However, we have particular strength in the role of engineering in emergencies, including water and sanitation, emergency shelter, and disaster preparedness.
In 2009, RedR took part in a wide variety of careers fairs, including events at Cambridge University, Oxford University and at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. We offer training courses directly aimed at entry-level candidates and we can advise students on how to get into the humanitarian sector.
If you are interested in having RedR speak at one of your local events or attending a careers fair, please contact Eva Modvig at RedR on eva.modvig@redr.org.uk
Please note, that while we will always do our best to find a suitable speaker or representative to take part in your event, we cannot guarantee this. This is due to our limited resources and the fact that we rely on our members to donate their time free of charge.
